Hanna Slinker & Kindall Martin

Classic elegance is what bride-to-be Hanna Slinker wanted, and that’s exactly what she got. Her key to success: simplicity. After meeting on a college float trip, Hanna and Kindall navigated the waters of their first date over dinner at Nonna’s Italian Cafe in downtown Springfield. Nine months later, Hanna found herself in front of a small airport worrying about showing up late to the dinner she was headed to. “I was so oblivious,” Hanna says looking back. “I had no clue what was going on until I saw Kindall standing next to a plane with roses and champagne.” Kindall had enlisted his mom’s and Hanna’s mom’s help in planning a surprise proposal ending with a private plane ride around Table Rock Lake.

That was September, and the lovebirds were hoping for a summer wedding. That left only eight months to plan a wedding. Their schedules became even more limited when they learned their church only had one available date that summer: June 4. After securing the church, Kindall and Hanna booked their reception at the elegant Haseltine Estate, hoping its tree-lined property would be perfect for their outdoor celebration.

When it came time to plan the details, Hanna stuck with what she liked. Her favorite color is lilac, so choosing the bridesmaids’ dresses was easy. The couple wanted a traditional wedding with plenty of elegance, so tuxedos were in order. Hanna wanted something simple for her own dress. She ordered and tried on three gowns from Bhldn, and with the help of her mother and sister she chose her favorite. Even the wedding rings, which Kindall designed with Miller’s Fine Jewelry in Bolivar, were simple in design. By the time the big day rolled around, everything was in place, and there was nothing left to do but say “I do.”

Today, Kindall and Hanna live in Joplin. Kindall is finishing his medical rotations at Freeman Hospital, and Hanna is a teacher at Columbia Elementary.

Instead of rice or fireworks, wedding guests showered the newlyweds with bubbles.

Hanna’s bridal bouquet was made by The Nest and fits with the classic and elegant style Hanna and Kindall wanted. Soft shades of green make the white flowers pop.

Keeping in line with the day’s elegant details, Kindall and his groomsmen wore tuxedos.

Hanna kept the color palette of the wedding simple and used colors she loved. Her favorite color is lilac, so to play off the soft purple, she added in pops of light pink and green.

Kindall worked with Miller’s Fine Jewelry in Bolivar to design his and Hanna’s wedding rings. 

 

As the wedding day preparations kicked off, Hanna and her bridesmaids celebrated with a champagne toast.

Kindall and Hanna were married June 4, 2016 at King’s Way United Methodist Church.

The three-tiered white wedding cake was made by Stacy’s Sweets, who also made a chocolate golf-themed groom’s cake.

 

Staying true to herself, Hanna wanted a dress that was simple but elegant. One key factor she kept in mind: comfort.

Flowers matching the bridal bouquet were used as centerpieces on each table throughout the reception. Classic white china and white tablecloths complemented the elegant gold chevalier chairs and gave the outdoor setting a definite sense of elegance.

The ivy-covered walls of Haseltine Estate served as a picturesque backdrop for Hanna and Kindall’s wedding reception.

After a short rain shower during cocktail hour, the weather cleared up and provided the perfect sunny afternoon for Kindall and Hanna’s wedding reception.
