Rosé Day is Back
It is now officially summer, which means it is now officially rosé season, too. Lucky for us, Cherry Picker Package x Fare and Culture Counter have teamed up to craft the ultimate ode to rosé. This Sunday, June 27, Cherry Picker is hosting Rosé Day: From 12–6 p.m., more than 40 rosé wines will be available to sample by the glass from the comfort of Cherry Picker’s lawn. Culture Counter is providing food, which you can enjoy while listening to some live music. To participate in the festivities, all you need to do is swing by Cherry Picker to purchase tickets for the day. One ticket is good for a half glass sample, an 8-ounce glass of wine goes for two tickets and seven tickets can be traded for one whole bottle. Tickets are $4 each and wines from the U.S., France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Austria and Argentina will be served.
A Menu Refresh at RISE
I case you haven’t caught on we’ve been loving RISE the breakfast joint that opened on Park Central Square earlier this year. Not only is the sun-soaked spot the perfect brunch aesthetic, but the food is absolutely delicious. A few favorites so far have been the pavlova waffles, the grain bowl and the creamed eggs. After just a few months in business, RISE is changing up its menu. First, cocktails were added late in the spring. Now, new food dishes are being added to the rotation: A red tomato shakshuka, a smoked salmon eggs benedict, burrata toast with local tomatoes, blueberry lemon pancakes, chocolate pancakes and more were added to the menu this past weekend. You know we’ll be checking out the updates ASAP.
Chef Nelly Expands Peruvian Food Operation With New Truck
If you’ve visited Farmers Market of the Ozarks at all over the past few years, you likely know who Chef Nelly is. Nelly Baxter has been serving South American and Peruvian foods like empanadas and tamales from a stand at the market for years. Now, she’s turning her business up a notch by introducing a food truck. The Peruvian And South American Food trailer made its debut at Farmers Park on a Saturday in early June. The resources available in the truck have allowed Chef Nelly to expand her menu offerings and to serve customers more efficiently. If you’ve never tasted one of Chef Nelly’s creations, now is the time to head to the market and give it a go. It even looks like a few sweet treats have been added to her menu!
La Habana Vieja Is Now Open
You might have heard us mention this one a few weeks back, but we’re so excited we just can’t contain it. Chef Michael Frazier, a Brooklyn, New York native, recently moved to Springfield to open La Habana Vieja in Springfield The Cuban restaurant is now officially open for business at 220 E. Commercial Street, Monday through Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. We’re drooling over the menu—empanadas, a deconstructed Cuban sandwich, sangria-braised oxtail, Cuban ratatouille and more. The menu really is like nothing else we’ve seen around town, or really around 417-land. We’re so happy to have this new addition in 417-land and we can’t wait to give you the full scoop soon!
