New Sushi Arrives in Galloway

You might have seen the sign for Niji Sushi Bar & Grill (with its sweet little fishy on the logo) in the Galloway neighborhood and wondered when it would open. Well, good news: Niji is open! The menu has the apps and bento boxes full of hibachi proteins that you might expect, but there are also seven kinds of ramen and a sake list with 14 varieties for sipping over a few rolls. There are about three dozen sushi rolls on the menu, and we are looking forward to tucking into a White Dragon roll to satisfying our never-ending craving for white tuna. We’re pretty excited about Niji’s proximity to the Galloway Creek Greenway too—because goodness knows we sometimes need a walk after we indulge in a sushi feast!

SPLIT Social Kitchen’s Menu is Out

SPLIT Social Kitchen’s first menu is out, and we’ve already pored over it to decide what we’ll order when the restaurant opens for business on July 7 after a brief soft opening. Our burrata-craving tummies are rumbling for the Grace, burrata that’s topped with truffle pesto and served with roasted tomatoes and naan. The Melanie also has us drooling: risotto with summer veggies and seared ahi tuna. Meet us there for happy hour?

Sweet Boy’s Opens Up Shop

This week (on June 19 to be exact) Sweet Boy’s Neighborhood Bar opens in the space formerly occupied by Scotch & Soda in downtown Springfield. The team behind Sweet Boy’s released their menu a few days ago, and we love its combo of fun irreverence and accessible simplicity. There is a small selection of cocktails, frozen drinks and house shots along with a few cans of cold beer. Snacks include Pik-Nik fries and FatBoy ice cream sandwiches.
