Jan 2022
In my opinion, Valentine’s Day was not created by the greeting card giants but rather by those of us whose sweet tooths need to be revived after a month of vegetables and mocktails. Fourteen days after January has passed seems like the perfect time to indulge yourself and those around you, and a box of chocolate-covered berries is the perfect way to do it. Luckily, you needn’t look far as several 417-land candymakers serve the treats fresh: Candy House Gourmet, Bon Bon’s Candy House and Shelby’s Strawberries all craft scrumptious chocolate-covered berry treats for you and your loved ones to enjoy. Just make sure to order ahead!
Skip the drug store candy bar and find sweet local candy for your Valentine or your kiddos’ classroom exchanges.
For Your Honey
Chocolate-Covered Strawberries
Bon Bon’s Candy House | 2720 S. Glenstone Ave., Springfield, 417-883-3900
Every year, Bon Bon’s Candy House offers one of their tastiest limited-time treats: plump, juicy strawberries dipped in chocolate and then drizzled with still more chocolate. They come in dark, milk or white chocolate with contrasting drizzles—and the dark chocolate version is hands-down our favorite. Be sure to keep an eye out for sales to open and order your berries in advance. They aren’t around for long.

These bite-size snacks are made from direct-trade chocolate from Ecuador, Tanzania, Philippines and Amazonia. They are just the right size to attach to your child’s Avengers or My Little Pony Valentine’s. You know, for kiddos who are into the good stuff and have a taste for dark chocolate.
