One of the best-kept sushi secrets in 417-land is the chirashi donburi box from Sakura Japanese Sushi Bar & Grill (3230 S. National Ave., Springfield, 417-882-8000). What’s so great about it? It’s a killer value, if you’re the kind of person who loves raw fish and likes to eat sushi without all the bells and whistles. It comes to the table in a cute little box with a layer of sushi rice in the bottom. On top of the rice are at least 15 (really!) pretty little pieces of sashimi of various types of chef-chosen fish. We always love the tuna slices the best, but part of the fun is waiting to see what kinds of fish you’ll get. It’s all accented with a few zippy little pickles on the side. It’s pretty, it’s filling without being heavy, and it’s a bit of a sushi jackpot at just $14.95.
