Stay
With a history that reaches back more than 100 years and an elevator that’s legendary in size, the Capital Hotel (capitalhotel.com) is a great spot to rest your head at the end of the day. The 94-room hotel offers up views of downtown Little Rock and a couple of great dining options (more on that in a minute). You can even stick around for afternoon tea every first Saturday.
Eat
During your stay at the Capital Hotel, grab a meal at Capital Bar & Grill (capitalbarandgrill.com), a spot that serves upscale takes on comfort food, including killer fried chicken. The cocktails menu is nothing to sneeze at either.
For a creative take on southern food, try South on Main (southonmain.com), where classic entrees like catfish, chicken livers and more are elevated with their presentations, like the smoked trout served with pickled fennel, apples and horseradish cream. Grab brunch on the weekends.
The Pantry Eatery (littlerockpantry.com) is the place to get Czech and German cuisine, including jäger schnitzel with spaetzle or house-made bratwurst.

Drink
With a speakeasy vibe and some seriously well-crafted cocktails, 109 & Co. (facebook.com/109Co) is the ideal spot for a classy night out. Grab a charcuterie board to nibble on while you’re there. If beer is more your thing, do your tipple sippin’ at Blue Canoe Brewing Company (bluecanoebrewco.com). Try the year-round Whittler Milk Stout or one of the seasonals.
Be sure to stop and smell the roses—and impatiens and ferns—sold at the farmers market at the River Market.
Explore
Slip into your walking shoes and visit River Market (rivermarket.info), a district that’s filled with restaurants, nightlife options, live music, shopping a farmers market and more. You can even take the Rock Region METRO Streetcar to get around.
If you have kids with you, make a stop at the Museum of Discovery (museumofdiscovery.org), a hands-on science and technology center full of interactive exhibits.
Kids and grown-ups with an interest in history will enjoy the William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum (clintonlibrary.gov), where they can view exhibits that show the day-to-day workings of the White House and lives of the Clintons while they lived there.
