Grove Spa
When Grove Spa (1522 E. Sunshine St., Springfield; 417-881-8887) first opened in 1995, manager Mallory Dunn said the founder, pharmacist Gary Grove, wanted to take a thoughtful approach to the business. “He was a pharmacist but wanted to provide a more holistic way of healing,” Dunn says. This can be seen in some of the products Grove offers today. For keeping your skin healthy, Dunn recommends the Hyaluroinc Acid Boosting Serum, Apres Peel Hydrating Balm, and Creamy Cleanser to help you make it through winter. “All of our products are sourced from PCA Skincare,” Dunn says. “The Creamy Cleanser is a great daily face wash because it is gentle and cleanses the skin without stripping your skin of the necessary moisture; it should be used as the first step of your skincare routine. The boosting serum should be used after cleansing but before moisturizing, and the hydrating balm should be used as the last step.” The spa is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Skin/Craft
Skin/Craft (5000 S. Highland Blvd., Studio 6, Springfield; 816-892-0988) is a local spa that was opened by Alex Sands in March 2020. “I have always been interested in skincare,” Sands says. “Once I reached my mid-20s I noticed my skin changing and wanted to work towards preserving it, which led to me beginning Skin/Craft.” While Skin/Craft offers a variety of products and services, Sands recommends the LILFOX’s product Cupu-Cool and Maracuja + Rose, as well as BOTNIA’s product Wisdom Oil, which can all be purchased from her spa to help with dry winter skin. “The Cupu-Cool product is great because it is a cleanser but can also be used as a moisturizing mask that can be kept on overnight,” Sands says. “The Maracuja + Rose and Wisdom oil are also great moisturizing products that are meant to be applied after cleansing and before moisturizing.” The spa is open Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
